This is our Ladybird Group, all our activities are child led.
We provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children feel a sense of belonging and love.
Through our supportive approach, each child is encouraged to explore, learn, and grow within a space that prioritises their emotional well-being and development.
Our setting is designed to foster positive relationships and create an atmosphere where children are comfortable, valued, and cared for.
Children will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of engaging, fun activities designed to support their development and well-being. These activities include:
Messy Play- this allows children to explore different textures and materials, encouraging creativity and sensory development in a fun and safe environment.
Water Play: this activitie provides children with chances to discover and experiment, helping to develop fine motor skills and an understanding of cause and effect.
Outdoor Play: this enables children to enjoy fresh air and physical activity, fostering social interaction and supporting overall physical health.
We have a wide selection of books and floor toys available, all thoughtfully chosen to support the development of your child..
The books offer opportunities for children to engage in early literacy experiences, while floor toys are designed to encourage movement, coordination, and manipulation.
By providing these resources, we help children build essential motor skills through play and exploration in a safe and nurturing environment.
Additional Activities Promoting Independence and Coordination
Beyond what we've already listed, we offer activities that promote independence and boost hand-eye coordination. These experiences help children practice self-reliance in daily tasks while strengthening fine motor skills and spatial awareness through play and exploration.

Play-Based Curriculum
The Busy Bee group follows a play-based curriculum that supports children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. A variety of activities are introduced, offering children the chance to engage in creative arts, sensory play, and group learning experiences.
Fostering Social Skills and Independence
The programme places a strong emphasis on cultivating important social skills such as sharing and turn-taking. Activities are designed to help children build independence and confidence, nurturing a positive attitude towards learning and encouraging self-reliance.
Engaging Activities
Children in the Busy Bee group participate in a wide range of experiences, including sensory activities, art projects, imaginary play, water play, and music and movement. Each activity is carefully planned to be engaging and enjoyable, allowing children to learn through active participation and by following their own interests
The Butterfly Room marks the beginning of your child’s journey in the Early Childhood Care and Education Programme (ECCE).
This programme offers a free, universal two-year preschool experience for all children who meet the age criteria, and is funded by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality (DCDE).
The ECCE programme is designed to provide children with their first formal exposure to early learning before they start primary school.
The programme runs from late August until late June, for 3 hours each day, 5 days a week, over a period of 38 weeks per year.
This service is available at no cost to families and is open to all children who have turned 2 years and 8 months by 31st August. Children must not be older than 5 years and 6 months on or before 30th June of the programme year in order to be eligible.
In the Butterfly Room, we follow the Aistear and Síolta curriculum frameworks. These frameworks are structured around four key themes that guide children’s learning and development:
Well-being: Supporting children’s physical and emotional health.
Identity and Belonging: Helping children develop a strong sense of self and connection to their community.
Communicating: Encouraging children to express themselves and understand others.
