Meet The Owner

Meet The Mind behind Stepping Stones

Hi, I’m Sharon,

I’m sharing a very personal bio:

I established Stepping Stones in 1994 with the help of my family. I knew from secondary school that I wanted to be an educator. I was lucky enough to get a placement in Saint Nicholas Teacher Training College. I then completed a year apprenticeship within the college complex.

I worked in nurseries in London and Edinburgh but longed to come home to establish a similar service here. At this time there was no such service and little regulation around same…. This was 1994. I was dreaming about the possibility; I was off work with a broken wrist (right – and I’m right-handed) I started sketching with my left hand how I’d like the logo…. This is what we have today! I had been buying equipment & toys every week, my dad and his friend, came in a van to collect me from Scotland.

I had no premises, no idea how it would happen, but I had a dream and a great belief.

I then met Adi (our manager) in 1994 through a neighbour, she was a qualified Nursery Nurse, I offered her a job there and then – and here we are today!!! My parents remortgaged so I could fulfil my dream. I believed it was a feasible plan and my parents & my aunt put their faith in me and from that we created Stepping Stones. My love of early education increases on a daily basis.

I love that we are a stand-alone unit, offering individual care and consistency of staff – you always know who will greet you!

As for me and what I  enjoy,

· I love music – I’m a member of The Liffey Choir

· I love dance

· I like long walks (with headphones)

· I like to cook (although not quite a chef)

· I have 2 dogs – who take a lot of care!

· I love art

· Gardening – love to see things growing

· I like to read

· Love spending time with friends

· I crochet and knit

· I’m a member of Rotary Newbridge – a Charitable Service

· I am heavily involved in community & charity

My main love is family, and this is reflected throughout Stepping Stones, you will see this word appear regularly.

Stepping Stones is our family caring for yours

Love,

Sharon XXXXXX

A little snippett of me!
